42 VOETWEG 94: WIJNDRIES : SLOW ROADS INSTALLATION

Bekkevoort

The municipality of Bekkevoort has drawn up a “tragewegenplan” (Slow Roads Plan) based on the work and inspiration book of the Province of Flemish Brabant. The “tragewegenplan” suggests prioritising several slow roads. These priority slow roads are considered by the residents and the government as important connecting routes that offer great added value for travelling sustainably.
This project was drawn up by the municipality with the aim of finalising one of the priority slow roads: Voetweg 94 is an important sustainable access route that connects the centre of Bekkevoort with the shops, the administrative centre (town hall, Public Centre for Social Welfare, police station, library), after-school childcare, cemetery, school and countryside.
Since part of Voetweg 94 was no longer accessible and visible, the municipality has opened a case file for modifying local roads. The deputation of Flemish Brabant approved the change and the new building line plan for Voetweg 94 in the session of 22 September 2016.
The municipality of Bekkevoort has surfaced the new path with concrete, so that this route can accommodate frequent pedestrian traffic to the centre of Bekkevoort.
